How Taylor Swift became my soundtrack to a summer of transformation

I appreciate all my readers so much, and I hope you enjoy this week’s extra: A Taylor Swift extravaganza!
I hadn’t been a true fan since the beginning. I should own that right out of the gate. She was too country for me, then too popular and mainstream. I mean, I *did* have that one solo kitchen singalong where I danced around my kitchen in an apron belting, “You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the princess, it’s a love story, baby just say yes!”
I started to become moderately hooked with 1989, Reputation, and Lover, and at the very least, was impressed by her continued evolution. I mean, also, what’s not to love about Delicate, Look What You Made Me Do, Wildest Dreams, Paper Rings, Getaway Car, Don’t Blame Me, and yes even Shake it Off and You Need to Calm Down. . . Total bops, yes?
And then the pandemic hit, Folklore dropped, then Evermore, and my world began swiftly (see what I did there?? 😂) spinning on a new axis. There was no going back—in the opinion of one daydreamy, musical elitist/singer/music therapist, she had taken her songwriting to a whole new level.
My daughters and I became obsessed with Midnights after its release, but Folkmore will be my forever favorite. Luckily for me, it was prominently featured at the Eras tour, the single best concert I have ever attended and the best money I have ever spent. No joke.
Last week, I wrote about my experience going to see Taylor Swift and Tori Amos back to back in one week, and how it changed me. Today, for my bonus content for paying subscribers, I’m highlighting my favorite moments from the Eras performance in Denver in July, and the lyrics that have broken me open during this summer of transformation. Dive in for some photos, a LOT of videos, a lyrical deep dive, and you know, maybe some transformation on a cellular level. 😉
